BIG Field Test: Ronin S2 vs. Hand Held

Every project demands a particular style of capture. Whether it’s handheld, Steadicam, dolly, gimbal, or something else… each method imparts a certain characteristic, and feeling, to the footage. At Big Media, we’ve used them all… and when we’re gearing up for a new production, assessing how we want to frame each scene, it always comes down to the story and the feeling that the audience should get when they see the images.

Are you going for action, or a sense of tension? Maybe try handheld.

Looking to impart a sense of calm, or prestige? Maybe think about some form of stabilization (gimbal, Steadicam, dolly).

Want the audience to really study the frame? Perhaps use a locked off camera on a tripod.

We love telling stories. Let’s work together to tell yours! Visit www.BigMediaCreative.com to see recent work, case studies, and more!
